Who can use QuickPole ?
QuickPole is intended to be used by people that are responsible for specifying or approving pole classes, guys, anchors and for verifying that it complies with various standards; including safety. This category of users includes designers, planners, staker/detailers, managers and construction personnel.
Do I need training to use QuickPole ?
Training on how to use QuickPole would be useful and takes between 1 day and two days, depending on the user's current expertise level in detailing pole structures. Also important though is to have training on the various aspects of designing poles and pole lines. QuickPole assists with the analysis and specification pieces and makes this part of the process very easy and efficient to accomplish.
How many designs can I have open at one time ?
You can have as many designs open at one time as you wish. Each Designs opens in a separate Window Tab and can be selected within the QuickPole Desktop and recalled whenever needed. The same thing applies to Report Windows. You can have several Report Windows open at one time, even from the same Pole Design; initiated with different conditions such as guy lead length or attachment heights.
Can I export the Analysis Results to Excel, Word or PDF ?
Yes. Just calculate the Pole Analysis Results and initiate a Report that most closely contains the information you are looking for; such as Attachment Loads or Summary Overview. When the Report is open, you can Save the Results in a variety of formats such as Excel or Word. You can then modify the results further in these other programs or combine the results with some of your own documents. If you find yourself doing this often, you should consider requesting an additional Report included in the QuickPole program. Requests for additional features are handled in Yahoo Groups by posting a question/request.
What is needed to run the program ?
Prior to running QuickPole, you will need to have Java 1.6 or later installed on your computer. If you are not sure, you can ask your IT Support Group or look at your computer's file directory for something like "C:\Program Files\Java\1.6.0_10". If it exists, you are fine; or if the version you have is more recent such as j2re1.7x. If you don't have it, you or your IT Support Group can download the latest version from here.
